About Solidariti

I’m Priscilla Brice-Weller, the blogger and developer for this website.

I have been working in the not-for-profit sector in Australia for over 4 years. For two years I was the web manager at Oxfam Australia. Now I am the online campaigner for a small but national grassroots organisation, ANTaR.

Prior to living in Sydney and Melbourne, I worked on not-for-profit websites in London.

I am the vice-president for WIPA (Web Industry Professionals Association) and am a core member of the WSG (Web Standards Group).

How this website came about

Whenever I meet people from other community organisations and tell them what I do for a living, they often ask for advice on how they can improve their website, particularly in terms of online campaign actions. I also used to get phone calls every now and then in my previous job for advice on various things (such as CMS’s for non-profits, good email bulletin service providers, etc.).

I realised there is a huge need for an online resource for Australian-based community organisations. My philosophy is that community organisations should be sharing ideas and knowledge about using technology effectively to affect positive social change in Australia. So that is how Solidariti came about.

Please bear in mind that this website is an extracurricular project, so improvements are made gradually.
