The Global Campaign for Education has launched Join Up, a campaign for education rights.

This site is beautifully designed, both in concept and design. To take action, you can create an avatar of yourself that looks kind of like the people holding hands at the top of my Solidariti website. There's plenty of different hair styles and clothes you can choose from to personalise your avatar, which makes it a pretty fun app to play with. You then add your avatar to a string of other people who have also signed up. At the time of writing, just over 30,000 have participated.

In 2005 and 2006, millions of people, young and old, took part in the campaign, and because of what you've done some governments have taken essential steps - such as dropping school fees or giving more aid to education. But there are still 80 million children who miss out. Help them get an education by joining the world's longest chain.

The Join Up site isn't simply about adding yourself to the chain, though. There's plenty of resources and facts on the site ("A single year of schooling increases a woman's wages by 10 to 20%"). There's also brief instructions on making a paper chain offline to send to "world leaders" ... it would be great if this came with a template in PDF format that you could print out ... might be handy for schools.
