· The Point: people solving problems ·
Today I came across The Point. It allows people to build support for a campaign before taking action. Take a look at the wonderful animated introductions on the home page, which will explain the concept much more elegantly than I do. (on the right. down the bottom.)
People can encourage support for their campaign either by asking for funds, or asking people to take an action, but supporters don't have to carry out the action until the target for pledges has been reached.
Something like the Raise The Bar campaign (changing liquor licensing laws) in Sydney might be a more effective use of The Point than using it to boycot a local business, but does the general public understand when the web works best as a campaign tool? Isn't this why some people decide to support good causes in the first place - so that we do all the negotiation, strategy and organisation for them? (I'm referring to The Point's animated introduction "Concerned Citizen".)
Once you've set up a page about your campaign, you can also get a widget to put on your blog :)

Seems like a nicer, cleaner version of PledgeBank: http://www.pledgebank.com/
